A bus accident in the early hours of Saturday in Maharashtra’s Raigad district has left at least 13 people dead and over 25 others injured. The tragic incident happened at 4:30 am on the Pune-Raigad border while the bus was traveling from Pune’s Pimple Gurav to Goregaon. The bus was carrying 41 passengers at the time of the accident. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
Bus Fell into Valley after Accident in Lonavala
The Maharashtra government has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. The injured passengers are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the district.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Eknath Shinde, also expressed his grief and announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to the families of the deceased.

The accident has once again highlighted the issue of road safety in India. According to a Ministry of Road Transport and Highways report, India witnessed over 1.5 lakh road fatalities in 2019 alone. This translates to an average of 414 deaths per day, making India one of the deadliest countries in the world for road accidents.
