Chinese President Xi Jinping was set to visit Russia to discuss a proposed peace plan for Ukraine. The plan aimed to resolve the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine.
The proposed peace plan reportedly included a ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the conflict zone, the exchange of prisoners, and the establishment of a buffer zone along the Russia-Ukraine border. The plan was said to have been developed by China, along with Germany and France, in an effort to bring an end to the conflict.
During his visit, President Xi was expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the proposed peace plan and other issues of mutual concern. The visit was seen as a sign of China’s growing involvement in global affairs, as well as its desire to play a greater role in resolving conflicts around the world.
